Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gate circuit which acts stably, by providing a constant voltage circuit for a capacitor of a turn-on circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch 2 is closed, a capacitor 4 is charged with a voltage prescribed by a Zener diode 12. When another switch 3 is closed, an inverse bias current flows through the gate and cathode of a gate turn-off thyristor 5 and another capacitor 10 is discharged through a resistor 6. When the switch 3 is opened and the other switch 2 is then closed, the capacitor 10 is charged so that its voltage becomes equal to the voltage difference between a control power source 1 and the capacitor 4. The charging current of the capacitor 10 closes the gate turn-off thyristor 5. The current flowing through the closed thyristor 5 charges the capacitor 4. When the switch 3 is thereafter closed, the capacitor 4 is discharged and the gate turn-off thyristor 5 is opened.
