Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the rush current at the time of turn-on of a power switch, by providing a control circuit which turns on a thyristor from the vicinity of the zero point of AC power at whichever timing the power switch is turned on.
CONSTITUTION: When the switch is closed, a transistor Q1 is also closed. Therefore, another transistor Q2 is opened, a current flows to a luminous diode D8 through a resistor R7, the diode D8 emits light and another transistor Q4 is closed. According to this, another transistor Q3 is opened and no current flows through the gate of the thyristor D1. At the same time, the transistor Q1 is opened for a period T at the next positive half cycle of power voltage Em with the angle θ near zero. As a result, the transistor Q3 is turned on and a current flows through the gate of the thyristor D1 to start charging. At that time, the rush current is made very low.
