Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent that accuracy of measurement be lowered due to pulsation of intake air, by means wherein to detect quantity of intake air by generating Karman vortices and to provide a cylindrical member including a swirl generating section rearwardly of the detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Quantity of intake air is calculated by means of a vortex generating rod 2 disposed in intake-air passage 1 of a diesel engine and ultrasonic-wave oscillator 3, ultrasonic-wave generating means 4, receiver 5 and processing circuit 6 for detecting Karman vortices produced rearwardly of the rod 2. Rearwardly of these detecting means, there is disposed a cylindrical member 9, opening 11 of which is connected tangentially. Further, a communication pipe 7 is disposed at the central portion of cylindrical member 9. The pipe 7 has an opening 12 on the opposite side of opening 11, and the other end portion of pipe 7 is communicated to engine (not shown) via throttle valve 8. With such an arrangement, pulsation of intake air transmitted from engine can be absorbed in the cylindrical member 9.
