Abstract

A fuel control apparatus for an internal combustion engine 1 includes a procession generating device 4 comprising a swirler 41 having radial guide vanes and rotatably disposed in the intake pipe 3 of the engine 1, and a venturi 42 located downstream of the swirler 41. The precession generating device 4 generates a precession in the swirling air flow through the intake pipe 3. A swirl detector 5 disposed just downstream of the venturi 42 electrically detects the period of the precession and produces an electrical signal having a frequency proportional to the amount of air sucked into the engine 1. A control circuit 100 meters the amount of fuel corresponding to the detected amount of air in accordance with the electrical signal from the swirl detector 5, and controls the fuel injection. <IMAGE>
