Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title foam body having uniform microcells by a mechanism wherein a graft polymer obtained a specific polyalpha-olefin, a radical generating agent and a silane compound is bridged and thereafter foamed by adding a foaming agent.
CONSTITUTION: An alpha-olefin having the formula [-CH2-CHR-]n (R= CpH2p+1; p is an integer abovel) is added with a radical generating agent with half life of one min. and the temperature range 80W140°C and a silane compound respectively to produce a mixture and the mixture is subjected to a graft polymerization at 150W230°C while the volume ration of oxygen (oxygen volume 1 bulk volume of polyolefin grafting composition) is maintained below 0.1. The obtained graft polymer is bridged by contacting with water under the action of a silanol condensation catalyst existed preliminarily or after graft reaction. Thereafter, a foaming agent is added and kneaded, and the foaming reaction is carried out by heating to the temperature of above decomposing point of the said foaming agent to obtain the title foam body.
