Abstract

PURPOSE: A fireproof composition free from crazing of films and dripping in burning, comprising, non-combustible short fibers, obtained by blend spinning of fpecific fibers, and an inorganic filler, dispersed in a liquid polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A fireproof composition prepared by mixing and dispersing (B) an inorganic filler, e.g. aluminum hydroxide, and (C) 1W30 parts by wt. per 100 parts by wt. of a polymer of short fibers obtained by blend spinning of (a) non-combustible synthetic high polymer fibers, preferably having repeating units of the formula (n is 4,000W4,500), with (b) regenerated cellulose fibers, preferably polynosic fibers, in (A) the liquid polymer or polymer solution or dispension. Preferably, 5W20 parts by wt. of a flame-retardant, e.g. antimony trioxide, and 2 parts by wt. of an antioxidant are added to the composition.
EFFECT: Free from safety and hygiene problems due to the absence of toxic asbestos fibers.
