Abstract

PURPOSE: A carcinostatic suitable for oral administration, having improved carcinostatic activity, with low toxicity, comprising an 1-aralkylcarbamoyl-5-fluorouracil derivative as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A carcinostatic comprising an 1-aralkylcarbamoyl-5-fluorouracil derivative, e.g. 1-phenethylcarbamoyl- or 1-benzylcarbamoyl-5-fluorouracil, of the formula (R is H, lower alkyl, alkoxy, or alkoxycarbonyl group ; m and n are 1 or 2) as an active constituent. The compound with low toxicity shows a great carcinostatic activity against slowly growing cancer, and is suitable for oral administration in a dose of preferably 50W1500mg/day.adult. The compound can be prepared from addition reaction of 5-fluorouracil with the corresponding isocyanate.
