Abstract

PURPOSE: To perfectly erase white edges with simple operation and equipment by coating a NH4Cl solution to the strip edge parts where white edges are produced before the reflow treatment of melting tin after electroplating then rinsing and drying.
CONSTITUTION: After the strip 1 out from a plating cell is rinsed and dried, it is passed between coating rolls 2, 2' which are partly dipped in tanks 5 respectively containing aqueous NH4Cl solutions. The strip 1 having been coated with the aqueous NH4Cl solution at its edge parts by this is fed into a reflow device 3, where it is subjected to the reflow treatment of heating to above the melting point of tin, after which the strip is quenched through a quenching device 4. As a result of this, the tin plate which had exhibited matt surfaces is made to the tin plate having luster perfectly erased of the white edges.
