Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce the spherical toner of good fluidity with a compact device at low temperature without danger for fire, etc. by adding a small amount of organic solvent to toner powder under mixing and stirring while cooling the stirring vessel having a built-in vane from the outside.
CONSTITUTION: Powder of mean grain sizes 0.5W20μ composed of, e.g., ferromagnetic material 30W80wt% in wax 20W70wt% as toner powder is mixed and stirred by being added with organic solvent 5W20pts.wt. based on toner 100pts.wt. by a revolving shaft 3 having a rotary vane 1, pulleys 4 and motor 5 while being cooled with a water jacket 2. The stirring speed is, e.g., peripheral speeds 600W 3200m/sec. and the toner temperature is so controlled as not to become its softening point or more. Next, the mixture is taken out, dried and classified to obtain the toner powder. In this way, the spherical toner of good evenness which requires considerably less amount of using solvent as compared to conventinoal methods may be obtained.
