Abstract

PURPOSE: To display digital values of the position and size of a defect automatically, by detecting the rising and amplitude of a defective echo pulse by providing 1st and 2nd differentiation circuit and a saturating amplifier.
CONSTITUTION: Pulses from pulse generator T are applied to probe P, echo pulses from which are sent to timing circuit B and video amplifier A1. Then, signals from amplifier A1 are supplied to 1st differentiation circuit D1 through gate G2 and then to saturating amplifier A2 and 2nd differentiation circuit D2 in sequence; odd- numbered positive pulses are generated at rising points of echo pulses, and even- numbered negative pulses at maximum points. Through switch K and memory M, the time until rising points is displayed digitally by display unit V, and a value equivalent to amplitude by display unit W. Consequently, the rising point and amplitude of a defective echo pulse can automatically be detected and accurate measurement is realized.
