Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible operation over a long period of time by adding alkaline material at the time of subjecting an Al material to secondary electrolysis in an aqueous ammonium thiomolybdate solution after anodic oxidation treatment.
CONSTITUTION: If a base material composed of Al or its alloy is subjected to secondary electrolysis in the aqueous ammonium thiomolybdate solution whose pH has been controlled to 8W12 by adding alkaline material after having undergone anodic oxidation treatment with an ordinary method, the colored film which is even and dense even if it undergoes continuous operation over a long period of time is formed. Since the reduction of the ammonium thiomolybdate in the cathode is suppressed under this pH condition, reduced product is not formed in the cathode and the loss of the ammonium thiomolybdate is inhibited.
