Abstract

PURPOSE:To exchange the existing continuous zinc plating line to a steel plate continuous annealing furnace with ease by making the end part of the snout of the continuous furnace of said line replaceable with guide rolls. CONSTITUTION:In the root part 8a of the snout 8 of the continuous furnace 1 of a continuous zinc plating line, the removably bonded end part 8b is removded and guide rolls 11, 11' are installed, by which said continuous furnace is changed to continuous annealing furnace. A sealing device 10 is mounted to the outlet of the snout to prevent the leakage of the atmosphere gas in the continuous furnace. With such disposition, annealing is accomplished. Namely, a steel plate S is preheated in a non-oxidizing zone 2 and is heated to 700 deg.C in a heating zone 3. The plate is retained of temperature in the first holding zone 4, is quenched in the first quenching zone 5 and is held at a constant temperature in the second holding 6, whereby super-saturated solid solution carbon is deposited as carbide. The steel plate S having been quenched in the second quenching zone 7 and having passed through the sealing device 10 through the snout 8 is led out by the guide rolls 11, 11'.
