Abstract
PURPOSE: The Al sintered alloy member of improved sintering characteristic and enhanced mechanical strength of green compact obtainable by compounding the powder of the specific amounts of copper, Mg, Si, boron compound to Al powder, compaction-molding the mixed powders then sintering the same under the specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The respective powder compositions composed of Cu; 0.5 to 6wt%, Mg; 0.2 to 2%, Si; 0.2 to 2%, and boron compound mixed with one or more kinds of B2O3, Na2B4O7, colemanite, pandermito burned and evaporated of water of crystallization (all are Ca2B6O11), boronatrocalcite (CaB4O7.NaBO2); 0.5 to 6%, the rest Al and a small amont of lubricant such as lauryl alcohol, etc. are evenly mixed. This mixed powder is compaction-molded under molding pressure of 1 to 6t/cm2 and is sintered for 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures 550 to 640°C. This method makes possible sintering in the atmosphere and improves the mechanical strength as sintered alloy member.
