Abstract
Procedure for obtaining compositions for the refining of grains of aluminum or aluminum alloys; characterized in that in a first stage the following are mixed together: i) 15 - 85% by weight of metallic titanium and/or titanium alloy containing not less than 85% of titanium; ii) 2.5-70% by weight of one or more compounds from the group consisting of sodium borofluoride, potassium borofluoride, titanium sodium fluoride, potassium titanofluoride, sodium fluoride-zirconium and potassium fluoride-zirconium, and iii) 0-46% by weight of a metal having a density greater than 4.5 g/cm3, the content of said metal not exceeding the content of said titanium or titanium alloy, the content of component ii) at least 12% of the content of said titanium or titanium alloy; said titanium and/or titanium alloy having a particle size not exceeding 400 microns; and in a second stage, the resulting composition is compacted to a coherent mass having a density of at least 2.4 g/cm3.
