Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high performance and long life cathode device using support materials which are suitable for the support of thermionic emission chips by arranging carbonaceous materials with high orientation layer structure so that the surface vertical to the direction of pressurization can adhere to both the chip and conductor member materials.
CONSTITUTION: The chip 1 of lantern hexaboride as cathode materials is put between the support bodies 2 and 3 of high orientation carbon materials, adhering to both sides and the surface of graphite fine crystals is orientated to a high degree in parallel in to the insertion surface. Accordingly, it has high electric resistivity and low thermal conductivity in the direction which is vertical to the surface. The respective elastic conductors 4 and 5 which give insertion force to the support bodies 2 and 3 have the upright pieces 6 and 7 which are formed in parallel to the conductor in a fork shape and the screws 8 and 9 are screwed into the upright pieces. This enables the conductor insertion force to be adjusted. As a result, this enables a high performance and long life cathode device to be obtained.
