Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible considerable expansion of transmission frequency bands with ease and accuracy by determining plural kinds of single mode optical fibers to the lengths satisfying the specified conditions according to the beam wavelengths being transmitted and cascade-connecting these. CONSTITUTION:Plural n kinds, such as 2 kinds or the like, of single mode optical fibers 1a thru 1c, 2a thru 2b, etc. differing in one or both of construction and material are cascade-connected by connection parts 3... to form the beam transmission line. If the overall length of these optical fibers 1a thru 1c, 2a thru 2b, etc. is so selected as to satisfy the conditions of formula I according to the wavelength lambdas of the beams being transmitted, the broad band transmission line may be formed readily and accurately without wavelength dispersion. The similar results are also obtained even by selecting the single mode optical fiber lengths forming the transmission line according to the conditions of formula II.
