Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the linearity of the output signals of a detecting coil by setting the load impedance of means for energizing coil at a suitable level.
CONSTITUTION: Letters Vs and Z indicate a constant amplitude voltage source for energizing a coil 4 and an impedance connected in series with the coil 4, respectively. Numeral 5 indicates a synchronous rectifier. With this construction, the mutual inductance of a magnetic circuit is indicated at M(x), and the inductance of the coil 4 is indicated at L(x). An inductance LO is used as an impedance Z. Then, the output voltage VO takes the value of Equation I. Here, the inductance L(x) has its characteristics varied similarly to the mutual inductance M(x) in accordance with the displacement x of a short-circuiting ring 2. As a result, the non- linearity of the output signals VO can be compensated by setting the impedance Z at a suitable level.
