Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform stable and strong ignition, by alternately triggering two thyristors to charge and discharge a capacitor and obtaining ignition energy from the charging and the dischraging currents. CONSTITUTION:When the voltage of AC power 1 is positive or negative, a thyristor 3 is closed and a capacitor 5 is charged. At that time, a high voltage is generated in the secondary winding 4b of an ignition coil 4 to produce sparks on a discharge electrode 13. When the voltage of the AC power 1 is negative or positive, another thyristor 2 is closed and the charged voltage of the capacitor 5 and the voltage of the power 1 are applied in series to the primary winding 4a of the ignition coil 4. At that time, a high voltage is generated in the secondary winding 4b to produce strong sparks on the discharge electrode 13. The same steps are repeated to produce sparks on the discharge electrode 13 by the positive and negative half waves of the AC power.
