Abstract

PURPOSE: To exactly ignite discharging sparks repeatedly continuously by continuously self-oscillating an ignition coil at the load of a thyristor series inverter.
CONSTITUTION: When the voltage of an AC power supply 1 is gradually raised, gate current will flow through a thyristor 5 to allow it to become conductive state. Thus, vibrating current will flow through a resonant capacitor 6 to invert the polarity of the current after half a cycle so as to turn off an inverse current at the thyristor 5. The higher voltage than the power voltage is ratained at the capacitor 6 to discharge the primary winding 8a of the ignition coil 8 as a load so as to thereby generate high voltage at secondary winding 8b. A voltage is simultaneously generated at tertiary winding 8c to permit the thyristor 5 to again become conductive. Thus, the terminal voltage of the capacitor 6 continuously vibrates sinusoidal vibration during the half a cycle of plus or minus in polarity of the AC power supply 1 to thereby continuously produce a plurality of sparks.
