Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the gas residue and to improve the charging efficiency by composing the two-cycle engine of hollow two-stepped piston, by using a dense gas mixture for an usual combustion, and by feeding air to the combustion chamber while the piston lowers.
CONSTITUTION: A feed port 2 for air or thin gas mixture and an exhaust port 9 are opened in the side wall of the cylinder 14, the hollow cylinder head 4 with a feed port for dense gas mixture is communicated to the upper head 20. The hollow piston 5 of small diameter and the output piston 15 of large diameter, which are in one body, are slided along the cylinder. Also a check valve 13 is set in the cylinder head 4, and openings 7, 8 are tangently provided in the upper part of hollow piston 5. When the piston ascends, the dense gas mixture compressed in the head 4 is introduced into the combustion chamber C through the openings 7, 8, and when the piston descends, air is led from the crank case to the combustion chamber C to scavenge the gas.
