Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent erroneous operation by providing a light-screening plate, which is made of photochromic material, between a light-emitting device and a photodetector, and providing a light-passing window a part of which is not darkened but transparent.
CONSTITUTION: A photodetector 2 having a light-receiving portion 21, which opposes an infrared light-emitting device 1 whose main component is GaAs, is provided, with a light-screening plate 3 being intervened. Glass containing silver halide is used for the light-screening plate as a photocromic material. The portion 300 is preliminary illuminated and darkened by the light whose wavelength is shorter than that of the emitted light from the light-emitting device, and the emitted light from the light-emitting device is not permitted to pass through. The portion 301 is not darkened and permits the emitted light to pass. Since the light-screening plate is made to opaque to its inner portion, with a light-passing window 4 being remained by the simple process of selectively emitting the shorter-wavelength light, the light does not leak out of the portion 301, and the stray light can completely prevented. Furthermore, the accuracy in forming the window is high, and the window with a small area can be formed.
