Abstract

PURPOSE: To control a speed increase in a d.c. motor at quick increase in power voltage, by magnetically coupling a shunt reactor and a smoothing reactor which is in series with the armature winding.
CONSTITUTION: Amarture winding Ma is connected in series with a smoothing reactor L1 which controls rise up of rush current into the armature winding Ma. Output from the auxiliary generator Ex is connected through the adjusting units CRf and the shunt reactor L2 to the series-wound field winding MF. The smoothing reactor L1 and the shunt reactor L2 are magnetically coupled, so that when rush current passes in the amarture winding Ma, field current in the series-wound field winding MF is increased by an electromotive force induced in the shunt reactor L2 by mutual induction action with the smoothing reactor L1. This strengthens the magnetic field in the motor M and increases counter-electromotive force in the armature Ma, resulting in controlled increase in rotation speed to bring it back to the specified value.
