Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent scattering of developer and change of its characteristics, by stopping developer feed to a developing roller from feed rollers in nondeveloping to prevent the presence of developer on the developing roller in the developing unit.
CONSTITUTION: In the third yellow developing unit, developer 24 in developing vessel 21 is carried upward with rotation of first feed roller 30 and successively transferred via second and third feed rollers 33, 34 to developing roller 35, and then brought into contact with a latent image on the surface of photoreceptor 1 to develop this. When development is finished, rotation of agitator 27 and each feed roller 30, 33, 34 is stopped. Developing roller 35 is further rotated by a constanct angle from that time, then reversely rotated, and the part of roller 35 having passed by the edge of scraper 41 and freed of developer 24 is positioned to the developing section adjacent to photosensitive drum 1. Such process permits scattering of developer and change of its characteristics to be prevented.
