Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a coating material having a catalytic activity to suppress the deposition of tarry carbonaceous material to the surface of a metal, composed of an alkali silicate, an acidic metal phosphate, a heat-resistant pigment, and a specific metal oxide.
CONSTITUTION: A coating composition composed of (A) an alkali silicate such as sodium silicate, (B) an acidic metal phosphate, (C) a heat-resistant pigment such as TiO2, and (D) metal oxides comprising (a) oxide of IA or IIA metal, e.g. Na2O or CaO, and/or (b) a compound containing an oxide of IA or IIA metal and having a structure of the formula (MA is a IA or IIA element, pref. Na, K, Ca or Mg; MB is IIIB or IVB element, pref, C, Si or Al; O is oxygen; x, y and z are integers).
