Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the slip to be caused between the strip and the roll on purpose to prevent the generation of scratch flaws in the surface of the strip and the roll, by rotating due to the tension of the strip the hollow roll being rotatably fitted to outside of the roll shaft unrotatable by the tension of the strip, and is being suspended by the hydrostatic fluid pressure. CONSTITUTION:On both outsides of the cylindrical shaft 2 like as the deflector roll, etc., being unrotatable by the tension of the strip, the pockets 3, 4, extending along the longitudinal direction are installed on the opposite side. Within the shaft 2, the passages 5, 6, for passing the pressure fluid are installed, and are communicated to both pockets 3, 4, through the communicating passages 7, 8. The hollow roll 1 possessing inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of above shaft 2 is freely rotatably fitted to outside of the shaft 2, and is suspended by the hydrostatic pressure of the pressure fluid being held in the pockets 3, 4. The strip S is laid on the surface of the hollow roll 1, and is moved forward; hereupon, the shaft 2 does not rotate, and only the hollow roll 1 rotates around the shaft 2, being suspended by the hydrostatic pressure; hereby, any slip is not caused between the strip S and the roll 1, so that any flaw is not generated in surface of the strip S and the roll 1.
