Abstract
PURPOSE:To make compatible discharge performance and closing performance by forming a separator from a combed paper body which is made by mixedly combing synthetic resin fiber and glass fiber each having a specific diameter and positioning the surface rich in glass fiber on the positive electrode side, and facilitating oxygen gas to be absorbed in a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:Into a tank 1, the synthetic resin fiber having a diameter above 1mu and the glass fiber having a diameter below 5mu are put and dispersed into water, and after agitated by an agitator 2, the both are allowed to flow down on a revolving screen belt 3. Among the fiber which flowed down at the point A, glass fiber sinks faster, and synthetic resin fiber more slowly, according to empty weight, and at the point B, lamination layer is formed so that the part rich in glass fiber is in the lower layer, and rich in synthetic resin fiber in the upper layer. The combed paper body thus obtained is used as separator, and positioned so that the surface rich in synthetic resin fiber 5 is on the negative electrode side, and the surface rich in glass fiber 4 is contacted with the positive electrode side. Thus, a closed-type lead accumulator having the structure in which electrolyte is impregnated between the separator and the electrode plate.
