PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease of electrolyte in separator so that an increase of internal resistance and so forth will not occur in an battery containing metallic lithium as a negative pole active material, by using a separator in which specific glass fibers are the main material. CONSTITUTION:An anode terminal plate 3 is fitted to a positive pole can 1, with a circular gasket 4 lying between them. A negative pole mix 5 consisting mainly of metallic lithium is filled in the negative pole terminal plate 3. A prescribed organic electrolyte is poured mostly to the negative pole side and partly to the positive pole side. Between the positive pole side mix 2 and the negative pole mix 5, a separator 6 made of nonwoven cloth consisting mainly of glass fibers of 0.2-1mum in diameter is arranged. The liquid retaining property of the separator 6 is superior and therefore the decrease of discharge voltage and the interruption of dishcarge rection are prevented.
