Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the above-specified detector, which can also act as a hydrogen flame ionization detector, by movably holding an alkali ion source, which is made of an alkaline (earth) metal salt having a heater buried therein, in the vicinity of a flame nozzle for generating the hydrogen flame. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline ion source 1, which is held between a pair of lead wires supported in a holder 2 of ceramics, is arranged above a flame nozzle 10 which is operative to introduce air from a pipe 11, carrier gases from a pipe 12, hydrogen from a pipe 13 and inert gases from a pipe 14. By pulling leftward the holder 2 which is fitted in a detector wall 8, the alkaline ion source 1 can be retracted to the position shown in broken lines. More specifically, the heat ionization analysis is accomplished by placing the alkali source 1 at the position shown in solid lines by turning on a switch 4 to supply an energy from a power source thereby to heat the alkali source. The hydrogen ionization analysis is accomplished by retracting the alkali source 1 to the position shown in broken lines.
