Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of consumed electric power, by connecting to a pipeline an end of a heat pipe coupled at the other end to a solar heat collector and by providing a means for electrically heating the pipeline.
CONSTITUTION: The heat pipe HP coupled to the solar heat collector SC is connected to the pipeline 1 and the means 2 for electrically heating the pipeline 1 is provided to jointly use solar heat and electric heat. A plurality of such solar heat collectors SC are installed with a tilt of about 17° southwards at a regular interval along the pipeline 1. The heat output sides of heat pipes HP coupled to these solar heat collectors are located in the pipeline 1. Heating electrical current is supplied by the means 2 from a commercial power source 4 to the pipeline 1 through an insulating transformer 5. A switch 6 is operated by the signal of a light detector 8. Thermal and electrical insulator 3 is coated on the pipeline
