Abstract
PURPOSE: To protect an exhaust gas purifier against trouble in a choke valve and forgotten returning operation thereof by automatically throttling a secondary air supply passage by a secondary air control valve after completing warming of an internal combustion engine to thereby reduce the secondary air amount.
CONSTITUTION: When a choke valve 25 is fully closed to warm an internal combustion engine to thus become at predetermined temperature, a thermoswitch 30 is closed to operate an alarm device 29 and a three-way solenoid valve 31 is operated to close the passage at sensing port 21 side to so switch a controller 11 that the diaphragm chamber 16 thereof is communicated with atmospheric side. Thus, the valve body 14 of the controller 11 closes the port 23 to cause secondary air to be supplied to exhaust system only from a hole 22 but the secondary air to the purifier 5 is automatically reduced to thereby prevent overheat of the engine with the result that the purifier 5 is retained at suitable purifying and active temperature. A driver can return a choke knob 24 to the original position on the basis of the alarm of the alarm device 29.
