Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform excellent finish for the head surface, by always monitoring the state of polishment, through the location of specific conductor wires on and under the magnetic body, in the polishing machining of multi-channel type thin film magnetic head, and through the detection of the progress of open wire of conductors. CONSTITUTION:The thin film magnetic head(MR head) 2 and the conductor layer 3 provided on the transparent substrate 6. Next, the lower conductor pattern 7 is provided with evaporation, and the protective cover 9 is coated with the adhesives 8. The transparent spacer 11 is provided via the adhesives 10 on the MR element 2 and layer 3. The upper conductor pattern 12 is formed with the pattern 7 on the spacer 11 and the protective cover 14 is coated via the adhesives 13. Further, the polish tape 5 is run to expose the end surface of the MR element 2 and to obtain the multi-channel magnetic head. Accompanied with the polishment, the cutting of the conductors is monitored, allowing to unsymmmetrical wear of the magnetic head surface and to obtain excellent heads.
