Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to electrolyze in high current density without damaging the anode, by circulating the electrolyte containing iron ion in case the steel wire rod to which scale breaking treatment has been performed is subject to electrolytic descaling by the indirect electrification system.
CONSTITUTION: The electrolytic descaling is carried out by making the steel wire rod 1 to which mechanical scale breaking treatment which provides bending and stretching repeatedly has been performed pass into the tubular electrodes X, Y connected to the anode and the cathode of DC power supply 6. In this case, for instance, FeCl2 or FeSO4 is added by 0.2%W saturation in the electrolyte 4 consisting of 1W30% solution of chloride or sulfate of alkaline metal, and furthermore FeCl3 or Fe2(SO4)3 is added by 0.1%W saturation as occasion demands. This electrolyte is circulated in the electrolytic cell/by means of the circulating pump, and also sludge is removed by the sludge removing device mounted in the curculating pipe 3.
