Abstract

PURPOSE: To clean a wiry body continuously and effectively with low electric power consumption by disposing tubular electrodes being varied in polarity in series in a non-contact state, passing the wiry body in the electrolytic treating liquid in the electrodes and feeding electricity indirectly thereto.
CONSTITUTION: Tubular electrodes (or tubular electrode groups) 2a and 2b which are opened at both ends and varied in polarity are disposed above a storage tank 1 in series in a non-contact state. The electrolytic treating liquid 4 in the tank 1 enters the electrodes 2a, 2b through their lead-in ports 3a and 3b, is released from both ends and returns into the tank 1. A wire rod 5 to be treated travels in the central parts of the respective electrodes 2a and 2b without contact therewith. During this time, the direct power feeding to the wire rod 3 is not carried out, and DC current is flowed through the treating liquid. In this state, for example, the wire rod 5 in the electrode 2a constitutes the anode side, and the wire rod 5 in the electrode 2b constitutes the cathode side. If in this mechanism the number of the tubular electrodes is increased, the high continuous electrolytic cleaning effect is obtained.
