Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise water-pumping capacity by providing a water take-out pipe connecting the lower multistage sealed final damping chamber and suction pipe in a runner seal structure.
CONSTITUTION: In the Francis type pump water wheel, the lower part of the side pressure chamber 8 consisting of the runner side plate 4 and the lower cover 6 in the runner 1 is provided with the sealed portion 10 by which leaking water passing through the side pressure chamber 8 is limited. The sealed portion 10 consists of a multistage seal, or 4-stage seals, and between the seals of each stage is provided with the damping chamber 11 by which the energy of leaking water from seals is damped. The final stage damping chamber 12 is given the hole 13 through which it is connected to the suction pipe 5 through the water take-out pipe 14, and the controller 16 sends out a command so as to open the regulating valve 15 only during high-lift head operation of pump by using the operational mode signal 17 and the water level signal 18.
