Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high density of ferrite superior in mechanical and magnetic characteristics by burning the ferrite to voids coming less than 5% and then growing crystal particles thereon through hot hydrostatic pressing to high density.
CONSTITUTION: A raw material is weighed so as to have a composition in MnO at 30mol%, ZnO at 15% and in Fe2O3 at 55mol% for example, mixed in a ball mill, calcined then at 1,100°C, ground again in the ball mill and subjected to a primary burning so as to have voids coming less than 5%. Next, crystal particles are grown thereon through hot hydrostatic pressing to a high density under conditions, for example, at 1,250°C and 800atm. A heat treatment is applied furthermore to remove strain. Now, the voids cound be then retained less than 0.1%, and the crystal particle size was 26μ on an average.
