Abstract

PURPOSE:To mix the combustion gas with air and to burn the mixture to reduce the formation of NOx by so arranging air nozzles as to form a vortex flow in the central portion of a flue for the combustion gas generated in the free board portion of fluidized-bed combustion furnaces. CONSTITUTION:Each fluidized-bed combustion furnace is divided by an air distributing plate 3 into an air chamber 4 and a fluidized-bed 1, a free board 2 arranged in the upper portion of the fluidized bed 1. For restricting the formation of nitrogen oxides, an amount of air small than the theoretical amount corresponding to the charged duel amount is fed through the plates 3 into the fluidized- beds 1 for combustion. The resultant combustion gas, containing inflammable portion, is directed into a common flue 10 through connection holes 8. Air is injected from air holes 19 provided in the furnaces, to form a vortex flow along an imaginary circle 17 while being mixed with the combustion gas. By the function of the vortex flow, the inflammable gas is mixed with air and burnt.
