Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the thin strip of the alloy possessing high magnetic permeability, improved magnetic characteristic, and elastic deformability, by heat treating at the specified temperature the thin strip obtained by spouting and quenching on the surface of moving body the hot molten steel containing respective specified percentage of Al and Si. CONSTITUTION:The steel material, composed of 4-7% Al, 8-11% Si and the balance mainly Fe, is inserted into the nozzle zone at lower end of the tube 101 made of fused silica, and is heated to melt by the high frequency induction heating furnace 102. This molten metal is pressed by the Ar gas (A) and is spouted as the jet stream from the injection hole bored in the bottom end of the nozzle zone, and is spouted out on the surface of the roll 103 rotating at high speed; hereby, the molten metal is quenched as extremely quickly as about 10<4> deg.C/sec to solidify and form the thin strip which is then collected 107. Thus prepared thin strip is heat treated at 650-950 deg.C, especially at 750-850 deg.C within the inert gas or the gas of reduced pressure; hereby, the desired thin strip of the alloy of high magnetic permeability is obtained.
