Abstract

PURPOSE:To present a photo circuit element capable of dividing the light differing in wavelength at high precision, by combining the Faraday effect element and double refractive crystal plate, and utilizing the difference in rotational angle of polarized light due to wavelength of Faraday effect. CONSTITUTION:The light of wavelengths lambda1, lambda2 from an optical fiber 12 is sent into a polarizer 8 through a lens 15, and only the light of the same linear polarized component is taken out, which is led into an element 9 made of a substance large in Faraday effect, having a ring magnet 18 provided in the circumference, and the planes of polarization of light of wavelength lambda1 and that of lambda2 are orthogonally crossed in the Faraday element 9. The optical axis of double refractive crystal plate 10 which is a parallel flat plate so that the optical axis may be inclined with respect to the surface is disposed so as to be located on the same plane as either one of the planes of polarization of lights of wavelength lambda1, lambda2 having said orthogonal planes of polarization.
