Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for HF solution immersion after completion of liquid crystal cells and eliminate conduction defect of electrode lead-out portions and decrease in contrast ratio by capacity-coupling two or more layers of opposing electrode films by way of insulation films.
CONSTITUTION: Transparent electrodes 13a and their lead-out portions 13b are provided on an upper glass substrate 11 and further upper layer lead-out electrodes 17 are filmed in correspondence to the portions 13b by way of an insulation film 15 such as of SiO2 thereon. Lower transparent electrodes 14 and insulation film 16 are provided on a lower glass substrate 12. Further the substrates 11, 12 respectively provided with orientation treating films 18, 19 sandwich liquid crystal 21 by way of spacers 20. When the AC driving voltage from the outside is applied to the electrodes 17, it is transmitted to the portions 13b by capacity connection. When the thickness of the film 15 is below 5000Å, the voltage drop by this capacity connection is negligible.
