Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of chemicals and the amt. of sludge formed in treatment of org. waste water contg. phosphates by aerating the water to allow the phosphates to be taken in activated sludge in a biologically excess amt.; separating the sludge in a final settling pool; and agitating the conc. activated sludge in a dephosphorization process under anaerobic conditions to release the phosphates to the liquid side.
CONSTITUTION: Org. waste water 1 contg. phosphates is introduced into aeration tank 2 and aerobically aerated by blower 3 under conditions where biologically excess intake of P proceeds well. Thus, the phosphates are taken in bacteria of activated sludge. The resulting mixed liquid is then transferred to settling pool 5 through pipe 4 and separated into a dephosphorized liquid and sludge with phosphorus taken in. The former is drained through pipe 6, and the latter is introduced into dephosphorization vessel 8 through pipe 7 and agitated with agitator 9 under anaerobic conditions, whereby the phosphates taken in the sludge bacteria are released to the liquid side. The effluent of vessel 8 is fed to solid-liquid separator 10 and separated into a phosphorus-rich liquid and dephosphorized sludge.
