Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce sintered parts of superior strength without remelting and regrinding debris by making green compact with metal debris of chip form, heating and sintering this in an induction heating furnace while pressing the same with an outer mold of high precision.
CONSTITUTION: Chip-form debris of metals other than cast iron is put in a green compact forming device constituted by upper and lower punches and surrounding walls and a green compact 5 is made by pressing with the upper punch. This is put in an outer mold 6 of high shape accuracy made of a metal material having a melting point higher than that of the green compact 5. Next, a pressing plate 8a is placed and is fastened by means of screws 9 to an integral unit which is then put in an induction heating type sintering furnace 10. Current is supplied to an induction coil 12 to sinter the green compact 11 while heating the same to about 1150°C. Or it is equally well to put the green compact 11 in the heating furnace 10 and press the same with a press 13 and sinter the same while heating it as mentioned above. The sintered parts of high strength may be produced by the use of debris other than cast iron in that form.
