Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the electrode characteristics and the molding property of the electrode, by granulating the electrode base component and the emitter component from their powder state, then mixing and dispersing these granules each other, and thereafter molding and sintering the resulting mixture. CONSTITUTION:The granules, whose main component consists of at least one of W, Ta and Mo, containing at least one of yttrium oxide, zirconium oxide and aluminum oxide are mixed with the granules consisting of alkaline earth metal salt such as barium carbonate or calcium carbonate, then press-molded and sintered to obtain an electrode 1 with an electrode bar 2. Thus, the use of thorium oxide can be avoided, so that handling safety can be improved. Moreover, the electrode characteristics and the press-molding property can be improved by the uniform dispersion of the emitter component.
