Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the electrode characteristics and the molding property of the electrode, by mixing and molding the granules consisting of the base component of the electrode and the powder consisting of the emitter component, and sintering the molding to uniformly dispersing the emitter component into the electrode. CONSTITUTION:The granules, whose main component consists of at least one of W, Ta and Mo, containing at least one of yttrium oxide, zirconium oxide and aluminum oxide, are mixed with the powder consisting of alkaline earth metal salt such as barium carbonate or calcium carbonate, then press-molded and sintered to obtain an electrode 1 with an electrode bar 2. Thus, the use of thorium oxide is unnecessary, so that handling safety can be improved. Moreover, the base component of the electrode 1 and the emitter component are mixed as granules and powder to uniformly distribute the emitter component, so that the electrode characteristics and the press molding property can also be improved.
