Abstract
PURPOSE: To utilize carbon dioxide present in the sea water in drinking water by enriching and purifying the carbon dioxide by the procedure in which an acid-added sea water is introduced into a decarbonation tower to cause carbon dioxide to generate, and after separating vapor by condenser, the carbon dioxide is added to fresh water made.
CONSTITUTION: When the sea water 1 is sent to the evaporation type desalination apparatus 4 by the pump 2 for desalination, an acid is added to a part of the sea water and then sent to the decarbonation tower 3 through the pipe 5 for decarbonation, and the decarbonated sea water is then neutralized with an alkali supplied from the pipe 17 and sent to the desalination apparatus 4. The carbon dioxide 7 released at the decarbonation tower, although the decarbonation is usually made for preventing scaling, is introduced into the condenser 12 by the steam ejector 6 to remove water vapor present and then added to the fresh water 9 taken out of the desalination apparatus 4 through the pipe 15. Thus, drinking water can be obtained by effectively utilizing the carbon dioxide present in the sea water by enriching and purifying it.
