Abstract

PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse the graphite powder in the metallized layer in order to form the metallized layer excellent in the wear-resistance, the galling- resistance, and the self-lubricity, by metallizing the mixture of copper or copper- alloy and the copper-coated graphite powder on the surface of metallic parts. CONSTITUTION:The surface of graphite powder of diameter 5-100mum is coated with copper to a thickness 1-70mum by means of the chemical plating, etc. This copper-coated graphite powder is mixed with the powder of copper or copper-alloy for preparing the metallizing material. Hereupon, the amount of copper-coated graphite powder is specified to 5-60vol% in the mixture. Thus prepared mixture as the metallizing material is metallized on the surface of metallic parts by means of the oxygen-acetylene method, the plasma method, etc. By reason of existence of copper layer plated on the graphite surface, the mixture can be rigidly fixed on the metallized layer; hereby, the metallized layer can be formed being excellent in the adherence, the wear-resistance, the galling-resistance, and the self-lubricity.
