Abstract

PURPOSE: To construct low cost torque converter of simple construction, utilizing circulation pressure in a fluid circulation room, without separated fluid circulation.
CONSTITUTION: When rotation of a rotary shaft 2 increases to exceed a fixed value, a ball 22 of a valve 20 moves outward of radius direction against a spring 24, to release a secondary side passage 21. Then, a control room 11 is connected to an oil passage 5 of an output shaft 2 to lessen pressure of the control room 11. As a result, a piston 10 moves, against a spring 13, to side wall at a housing. Therefore, outside pressure plate 17 assembled to boss 14 of a piston is moved to the side of an inner plate 16. Thus, a clutch plate 19 is put between plates 16, 17 to establish a direct connection between an output shaft 2 and a driving shaft 4.
