Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the circulation of hydraulic working fluid and prevent its overheat, by constituting an AND circuit with a switch valve and lock up control valve and linking the hydraulic pressure source to an oil line for releasing a direct coupling clutch when a trouble of valve sticking is caused in one of the said two valves.
CONSTITUTION: A control mechanism for a torque converter direct coupling clutch 50, in which a crankshaft 8 connected to a pump impeller 5 of a torque converter 1 and turbine shaft 9 connected to a turbine 6 are directly coupled, is constituted by a switch valve 60 and lock up valve 70. Then switch valve 60 is constituted in such a manner as to perform the change-over of communication between an oil line 102 leading to a hydraulic pressure source and an oil line 87 for releasing the directly coupling clutch. While the lock up valve 70 is constituted by providing a spool 76 having four lands 72W75 in such a manner as to output actuating the switch valve 60 when a governor pressure led to an oil chamber 77 is not less than a preset value, and an oil chamber 80 is communicated to a lock up valve (not shown) through an oil line 124.
