Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent overheating of work oil, by providing a valve capable of communicating an oil passage connected to an oil source and an oil passage for releasing a direct coupling clutch to each other when a switch valve is locked up due to sticking even after a lockup control valve has ceased to produce an output.
CONSTITUTION: When a spool 701 is moved upward in normal operation of a lockup control valve 70 and a spool 601 is fixed at an upper position due to sticking of a switch valve 60, a fail-safe valve 80 functions of interrupt a line pressure transmitted from an oil passage 91 or 96B to an oil chamber 816 via a three-way check valve 390 and an oil passage 97. Resultantly, the resultant force of a spring 800 and a line pressure supplied to an oil chamber 817 becomes greater than a line pressure supplied to an oil chamber 811 via oil passages 102, 102B, so that a spool 801 is shifted to a lower position. Therefore, a direct coupling clucth 50 is uncoupled and operation of a torque converter can be obtained.
