Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish accurate and easy sealing through mutual movement of the light emitting devices and an optical fiber unitl the light output attains its highest in combining a lower electrode containing light emitting devices with an upper electrode housing light emitting devices and the optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A light emitting device 15 is housed in a holow upper electrode 8 having an exhaust port connected to a vacuum apparatus and an ammeter 17 is connedted to a lead wire 16 drawn outside following the device. A cap 5 is fitted into the open end of the electrode 8 while an optical fiber piercing the cap faces the device 15. A light emitting device 1 on a stem fitted into a hollow lower electrode 7 faces the optical fiber 1 and is connected to the power source 14 using a lead wire 13 through a socket 12. The upper electrode 8 thus arranged is molded in the direction of XY. When the current as indicated by the ammeter reaches its highest or the specified value, the stem 2 and the cap 5 are welded together.
