Abstract

PURPOSE:To promote saving of manpower for electric discharge machining job in such a way that in case where electric discharge machining of a machined product is being done, chips are collected between the machined product and an electrode in order to automatically effectuate removing job of chips. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 2 is at the outset positioned in the point (A1), with the commencement of electric discharge machining, the electrode 2 moves along a locus as shown by an arrow (a1) by a numerical control system. When the electrode 2 draws near to a machined product 1 by a settled distance, electric discharge is produced between the electrode 2 and machined product 1, upon arrival of the electrode 2 at the point A2, the maximum cutting depth arrives at the place just as shown by dotted line 4. Then, the electrode 2 goes on along a locus 3 clockwise, the machined product 1 is machined under electric charge into a settled shape keeping pace with the advance of the electrode 2 by the electric charge produced between the electrode 2 and machined product 1. During the time, the length of discharge interval is maintained to be a settled length.
